Lesson 8: The Breathing Detox

What is a detox? Essentially, your body has toxins stored throughout your body. Many of the toxins are stored within your cells. When your cells start dumping toxing into your blood, you feel sick, tired, and might get a headache. This is called a detox.

How can the FRTD cause a detox? As you improve your oxygen metabolism, your cells produce less acid. Your blood is now has fewer toxins. Your cells can then finally unload toxins. The cells always over-shoot a little, so you will temporatily have more toxins in your blood. You will be more tired than usual. All you have to do is rest extra so your body can process and finally get rid of those toxins

The reason it is so important to start off slow is to avoid a large detox reaction. I have on occasion known people to ignore that advice, and get really enthusiastic. They ended up feeling sick for a few days. It's not desirable to go through that. You will get better much faster when you detox very slowly.

Exercise 8: Increasing the Exhalation Further: The Simple Pause

Let's say you've been exhaling 20 seconds for a month and are comfortable. You can't seem to get to 23 because you run out of air. You are already blowing as slow as you can.

The first solution is to pause periodically during the exhale. For example, you could exhale 4 seconds, pause for 1 second, exhale 4 seconds, pause one second, and so on. That will buy you several more seconds, and carry you through for another couple weeks or so. Try this whenever you feel you can't exhale slow enough.
