Lesson 6: Nutrition And Breathing

Your diet reflects your physiology. When your physiology changes, your diet will change so matter how stubborn you are.

Many people try to achieve health by improving their diet, but it is much more effective to try to improve your physical performance. You will then have a need for a better diet, and find yourself seeking nutrient rich food and rejecting processed junk.

Since training with the FRTD, you will likely notice a decreased appetite. So, what should you do about that? Read a book by some Harvard professor who has calculated how much food is ideal? Of course not. That guy couldn't make a fly, let alone a human being. You just need to eat less. Trust in the design. Your appetite is very sophisticated, and your best hope to tell you how much to eat. The greatest obstacle to overcome is habit and routine. Is it necessary to eat three meals per day? Not always. If you're not hungry, just skip it.

You will also begin to notice that you can't handle sugar very well, but like vegetables more. That is because sugar is the fuel for anaerobic metabolism, and you are starting to run aerobic much more. Vegetables are the fuel for aerobic metabolism. Your brain has a way of figuring this out and telling you what to eat.

If you are on medications, keep in mind that you might not need them as much. I would advise you to consult your physician periodically about your needs in the light of your improved health.

Exercise 6: The Inhale

It has been a while since we mentioned proper inhalation. It is at this point that there is a tendency to get a bit lazy and start inhaling with the chest. Don't let that happen to you.

It is also very important that your inhale is not forced. You should breathe into your belly until it is filled up, but don't use any force to inhale ever further.

Also, your inhalation should take no more than 3 seconds.

Did I mention that your chest needs to remain relaxed?
